Lily Gladstone is nominated for an Oscar and it is not a surprise. Staring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert DeNiro, Lily Gladstone and Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, John Lithgow and Brendan Fraser, Paramounts ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ is an Oscar nominated epic western crime drama directed and co-produced by Martin Scorsese who also co-wrote it with Eric Roth. It is based on a non-fiction book by the same name in 2017.
Set in Oklahoma in the 1920’s. it looks at murders of Osage members and the Osage nation after oil was found on their land. Tribal members had the mineral rights on their reservation by the White people came to take it. This is one of the best movies this year. Takes a look at America and its indigenous peoples. Great acting and beautiful cinematography this movie is based on David Grann’s best-selling book “Killers of the Flower Moon. This is a crime/drama/historical movie that is based on truth, based on fact, but has some fiction added in. If you liked The Irishman, you will like this. This is a cinematic experience that only Scorsese does so well at this level.
As usual, the running time is long. 3 hours and 22 minutes but it will make you think the entire time.
Scorsese scores again.
