Upcycling and Vintage Continue to Trend in 2024 with vintage bigger than even last year

A brand’s client-centric market cultural credibility is now expected

Luxury business news.

“A luxury business must stay fully aware of the trends even though luxury does not follow trends – it must stay up on the state of affairs in the overall market”

Ann Shatilla, Strategic Corporate Communications Consultant

Wear and Repeat: Repeating still remains the trend today and always “ co-responsible.” Re-sale, re-use, re-furbish; all these are still popular with luxury for 2023.  ‘Legacy’ purchases or ‘experiences’ continue to trend.

Remember, a client-centric market cultural credibility for a brand is expected.

According to a report by High sobriety, young luxury buyers want brands that are credible and have authentic stories. They also want things that are worn by opinion leaders, tastemakers, and others in their social world.

Trending still: Anything up cycled. Trends from the ‘90s and Y2K have made a comeback.  Today’s youthful buyer wants: retro, recycled, vintage. Consignment items are big too. Create your own high-end consignment section or offer it online.

So what exactly can be deemed vintage? Items at least 40 years old are considered “vintage.”

Items at least 100 years old would be considered “antique.”

The term “retro” refers to items at least 20 years old but not yet 40 years old.

Secondhand Styles on Trend right now:

  • Chain Belts
  • Corsets
  • Big Blazers
  • Bowler Bags
  • Distressed Leather Jackets
  • High Platforms
  • Waistcoats
  • Baggy Jeans
