The 2022 Oscars ceremony will air live on ABC on Sunday, March 27, at 5 p.m. PT (8 p.m. ET)

Big odd news though: The Academy is choosing to live on the wild side. Guests will not have to be vaccinated to attend in person. The Academy will just ask for a  negative PCR test (gold stand of testing) or just a negative rapid antigen test (which is often not correct) on the day of, while SAG Awards and Critics Choice Awards, play it safe and wise as Omicron BA. 2 (otherwise known as Stealth) is 50% more contagious than Omicron BA. 1 and will require proof of vaccination.

“The Power of the Dog” leads with more Oscar nominations than any movie this year, Drive My Car came out surprisingly well, but it was the snubs that really had people talking this year.  Lady Gaga and Jared Leto were shockingly shut out for the much talked about House of Gucci, Spiderman: No Way Home was snubbed, even though it made a domestic gross of more than $748 million and was a fan favorites, while director Denis Villeneuve of the technical masterpiece Dune is out, even though his sci-fi film did get nominated in other categories. Kenneth Branagh's black and white Belfast made him the first person to be nominated in seven different categories and Flee, the animated documentary about an Afghan refugee is now the first movie every to get nominated for best documentary  animated and international film (formerly foreign film) in the same year.

The Power of the Dog, King Richard, West Side Story, Don't Look Up  came in as expected while other multiple nominated movies were Drive my Car, Nightmare Alley, Belfast and Licorice Pizza.

Best Director nominations are Paul Thomas Anderson, Kenneth Branagh, Jane Campion, Steven Spielberg and Ryûsuke Hamaguchi. Left out Dun'es Denis Villeneuve even though his sci-fi technolical masterpiece is up for many other categories, just not director.

Up for best male and female actors: Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Olivia Colman, Jessica Chastain, Andrew Garfield, Penélope Cruz, Kristen Stewart, Benedict Cumberbatch, Javier Bardem, Nicole Kidman and Ariana DeBose are among those in the running for acting awards.

Dune, Cruella, Spider-Man: No Way Home and No Time to Die are among the films nominated for technical achieves as well as like costumes and visual effects.
