Movie going and moviemaking for 2025 continues to be made up of franchises, remakes, reboots, and now adds in virtual reality and AI in the filming process as well as post-production. With franchises, studios continue to expand with sequels and spinoffs (that built in audience already as usual) while remakes and reboots are going back with nostalgia and known names.
Visual Effects
- Visual effects and Augmented Reality – AR and VR – are also creating more immersive experiences for us the viewer, during production and post-production. AI is being used for editing, visual effects for creating content and streamlining work. You’re going to continue to see de-aging technologies like we saw in the Irishman and Star Wars: Rogue One.
As far as the storylines, the audience has been asking for more diverse narratives that show more perspectives while social issues are a big draw today.
Sustainability is Trending on Film Sets
Sustainability is a trend going forward as filmmakers think about eco-friendly practices and also putting those story ideas right into the storylines.
A Focus on Global Appeal
Another trend is Hollywood is the international co-production – USA connecting more with other studios to produce projects that are attractive to those around the world as we have been seeing.
