Universal’s “Jurassic World Rebirth” made $147 million domestically over five days of the holiday weekend. The fourth version beat early predictions of nearly $80 million for the three day weekend and $135 million for five days.
This is the seventh version since 1993. The original grossed $924 million worldwide or $2 billion when you consider inflation.
Scarlett Johansson does a great job and she definitley is a plus for bringing in audiences. The movie is exhausting in a good way and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Think of how Jaws hit us 50 years ago.
“Jurassic World Rebirth” took over and moved Brad Pitt’s “F1” to No. 2. “F1” brought in $26 million domestically and is kicking out of the park with international audiences. The world relates to FI on a massive scale.
Next week when Warner Bros.’ “Superman” opens, it’s expected to gross over $100 million in its opening weekend. “F1,” “Jurassic World Rebirth” and “Superman” will likely bring in the same audience – young men and could be big with younger crowds and families. So far it’s proving to be a solid summer at the theater.
