SEXY ESPIONAGE CAPER WORTH SEEING
When you kept seeing the billboards everywhere, you knew it was going to be good – and it is. This is a very cool spy movie with high caliber verbal volleys. No better way to put it, this movie is slick and sexy. An outstanding espionage with two of the strongest actors out there today; Cate Blanchette and Michael Fassbender. Just saying those two names says to you this movie is going to be good popcorn settle down ride. They are truly captivating on screen as they always are but somehow playing husband and wife was outstanding casting. Blachette’s voiced her delivery is so sexy in this role – it’s just mesmerizing when she speaks the carefully curated lines. From director Steven Soderbergh and Focus Features, this is a great watch.
Fassbender plays a British intelligence officer on a mission to find a top-secret software leak. His wife played by Blanchette. another British officer is the suspect, along with a few others. Enter the board game Clue and you see where this is going. The movie powerful wit and great dialogu while the acting supports the script, the script supports the acting. Both Blanchette and Fassbender are at their best in this one, playing a charismatic couple (perfect casting) set out to be husband and wife in life but they must protect themselves. They watch each other. They seduce each other. At one point, Blanchette says – “my devotion to my marriage is her professional weakness.” Spewing out great smart back and forth, the movie is supported by strong co-stars Marisa Adela, Tom Burke, Rege-Jean Page and Naomi Harris. There is also a great small role from Pierce Brosnan (seriously couldn’t have chosen better casting)
The movie overall feels like a John le Carre spy book with dialogue that keeps you glued. Lots of intrigue and suspense coupled with lots of hip wit. A powerful mix of suspense and comedy. Wish they made more movies like this.
