Superman wows at the box office as DC Studios relaunches

Superman is a massive hit with an opening weekend of a whopping $217 million at global box office making it DC Studios biggest premiere since The Batman. Director/producer James Gunn says he’s very grateful for the response after opening in 75 markets overseas and domestically in 4,135 theaters. 

The $122 million at the domestic box-office (US and Canada) is less than the National Research Group predictions of $125 million to $145 million domestically but it beat DC and distributor Warner Bros projections for themselves of $90 million to $125 million. Superman cost $225 million to produce and 100 million to market.

The movie stars David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Broshahan as the absolute perfect Lois Lane, Nicolas Hoult and Superdog Krypto! All are fantastic. It’s is a fun ride and a great summer experience. 

This is the first film to come out of DC Universe’s rebranded studio and it just beat the lifetime grossness of their 10 most recent movies. The studio now has a 10-year plan. The future sure looks so bright, new beginnings as audiences are loving the movie. Gunn is also the co-head of the Warner Bros. owned DC, which he was hired to run with Peter Safran. By the way, this movie is the 55th-best opening for a movie of all time. Only 6 films have ever opened over $110.
