Mother of the Bride: Romantic comedy stars Brooke Shields and Benjamin Bratt. It may be uplifting and fun to look at but it’s weight is Intagram-light

This rom-com feels like Instagram-light.

Mother of the Bride could not have cast a better lead in Brooke Shields, just her smile seems to put us in a good mood so worth watching her. The brightly colored film stars Shields, Miranda Cosgrove and Benjamin Bratt (fun to see him again after so-Julia-long.) Sadly, the film is a Netflix watch when the thumb can’t click anymore or you have watched enough new releases to say. – now what. the script is not great written by Robin Bernheim (The Princess Switch.)

Shields plays Lana, a world renowned geneticist who is kind of her Suddenly Susan character. Lana finds out her daughter Emma (Miranda Cosgrove) a lifestyle influencer who has sold her wedding in Thailand to be covered for a price tag – is marrying the son of Will (Benjamin Bratt) the guy in college who broke her heart. So now the two families will be together.

Their roles

Miranda has little pizzaz, Bratt as well, so is that the director or their own capabilities today. Interesting question. This is a fluff film, skimming the surfaces of an Instagram hit. No depth that could have made it funny. Yes keep it light, but meaningful at the same time. the script skims and leaves so many questions unanswered but then this is rom-com extra light so know what you are in for. The groom is not a strong character, his part is like a quick Insta post. I would write more about this film. but there really is nothing more to write. It appears to be going after the Gen Z audience that is watching with one eye. Shields is so good – it’s a shame because she is a delight to watch on screen anytime.
