Kong beats Monkey Man
After a lot of buzz, for the second weekend, Warner Bros Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire remains number 1 taking the April 5th weekend box office in its second weekend out with $31.7 million for a total of $135 million domestically after crossing $100 million in its first week. Dev Patel’s directorial debut action-thriller Monkey Man and 20th Century’s horror prequel The First Omen both opened behind expectations though Monkey Man was predicted to take second place. Monkey Man took second place making $10.1 million vs fourth place The First Omen which made $8.4 million. Though Godzilla dropped 60 per cent domestically, overseas it fell just 53 per cent to $59.3 million in 69 markets globally. Worldwide it has made $361.1 million. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire took third place the weekend of April 5, 2024 dropping d to third place with $9 million (down 42 per cent) to generate $88.9 million in North America.
