The former Republican National Committee chair was hired as a paid contributor by NBC News on Friday and now she is out. There was so much discontent with this decision by Cesar Conde, NBC News Group Chairman since it was announced. He wrote to staff Wednesday a company memo. “After listening to the legitimate concerns of many of you, I have decided that Ronna McDaniel will not be an NBC contributor. No organization., particularly a newsroom, can succeed unless it is cohesive and aligned. Over the last few days, it has become clear that this appointment undermines that goal” said Conde. The uproar from anchors and staff in house was not that she was Republican but rather that she was part of trying to overturn the federal election. The anchors welcome many opinions on air but not those who defended the attempt to overturn the election. The announcement of her not joining NBC was announced in a staff memo on March 26, 2024 and now McDaniel is not happy. Conde said that her role for the hiring was to offer an insiders perspective on national politics and the Republican Party but likelyhe felt so much heat. Many are saying how could he have even considered her. NBC journalists were uncomfortable with the hiring because their interactions with her with the RNC while she was chair were “met with gaslighting” and “character assassination” according to Chuck Todd, NBC’s News Chief Political analyst.

McDaniel is said to be exploring legal options over her termination according to two sources.
